The Sundance filmfest in the US invites Iranian actor Peyman Maadi as jury member.

The Sundance Film Festival in the US has invited Iranian actor Peyman Maadi to join the jury at the 2022 edition of the event.

The award-winning Iranian actor will be on the jury board along with Marielle Heller and Andrew Haigh to present prizes for artistic and cinematic achievement.

As an actor, Payman has so far appeared in several award-winning flicks such as ‘About Elly’, ‘Melbourne’ and ‘Life and a Day’.

His role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning flick ‘A Separation’ won him a Silver Bear award from the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

He has also written some screenplays and directed a number of successful hits such as ‘The Snow on the Pines’ which won the Audience Award for Best Film at the 31st Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Maadi’s appearance in various Hollywood flicks such as ‘6 Underground’ has made him an international figure.

As the largest independent film festival in the US, the Sundance is an annual film festival that includes out-of-competition categories for showcasing new films as well as competitive categories for documentary and dramatic films, both feature length and short films.

The 37th edition of the fest will be held online due to the pandemic on January 20-30.
